The next morning we set off into the direction of Port Elizabeth and the Addo Elephant National Park. We decided to take the route through the Swartberg mountains – there is only one word for this – wow. The views were amazing and although it was dirt road all the way as long as you kept your speed down it was fine.
The track you can see in the picture is the road it took about three hours to get over from one side to the other.
We even saw some cyclists who had been dropped off at the top cycling down.
We eventually got to our Kududu Guest House country house about 4.30 and wow what a place.
The owner then offered to take us to feed the animals and see the farm – we jumped at the chance. He turned up with a 12 seater land cruiser and proceeded to give us a game tour of the farm – it was brilliant. We saw Kudu, Sable, buffalo, giraffe, eland, warthogs, zebra. What a treat we couldn’t believe our luck.

On Monday we went to Addo Elephant National Park. We didn’t have high hopes of seeing any elephants but we kept our eyes peeled all morning. Not an elephant in sight. After a rest break and to check out the map to see if anyone had seen the elephant we headed to where others had made sightings. We were in luck – a huge herd of elephants were down at the water hole along with buffalo what a glorious sight the elephants giving themselves a bath and the buffalo’s avoiding the elephants. They came so close we had to drive away…….
