The time has come for us to say goodbye to Australia. We have spent 9 months here and travelled a vast amount of the country. In total we have done over 33,000km, visited every state, seen many of the iconic places and totally enjoyed ourselves.
Over the last couple of months we have stayed with our very good friends Mick, Veronica, Abbey and Sam in their ‘Shed’ on the hill and also spent time house sitting for Greg and Colleen at their beautiful house in the town.
This last week we went down to Mullumbimby to say goodbye to Phil’s cousin Mick and wife Miranda as they leave for their trip to Chile and Peru.
We have spent time with Peter and Delwyn Hackett in Brisbane where they treated us to a day on the dam, sailing in a Nacra 5 – beach cat, Bob experienced the thrill of trapezing and arrived back onshore with a huge smile on his face.
Our final weekend in Toowoomba was manic – we celebrated Abbeys 8th birthday on Saturday. We held a party in the morning, with party games and a craft activity. In the afternoon we were going to have a quiet soup supper with friends we had met on our trip – but the McKeon’s had other ideas. They held a bush dance for us in the evening – Mick’s band Cloud 9 entertained us all afternoon and evening and all the guest joined in with the bush dancing. We had a fantastic evening, brilliant music and wonderful company – thank you Mick and Veronica for making it so special for us.
We are on Monday morning heading to New Zealand – flying into the North Island and we are hiring a camper van and will travel around North Island and then will go over to the south Island. We will update you when we can – not sure how often it will be due to the data restrictions!
